Background

The Training & Education Working Group, led by Melissa Wright, identifies the need for, develops and implements training and education modules for nurses and GPs across Victoria, in collaboration with relevant peak bodies and clinical sites. 

Aims

The Working Group's aims include:

• To work with partners to develop and implement education and training programs designed to support Nurses/Allied Health staff to provide community hepatitis C testing and treatment of people who inject drugs with hepatitis C

• To build the skills-based capacity of Nurses/Allied Health staff to manage community hepatitis C testing and treatment of people who inject drugs, including conducting screening tests and other relevant blood tests, performing FibroScans and providing hepatitis C treatment to patients attending community clinics and in correctional facilities

• To support primary care clinicians to increase their capacity to provide hepatitits C testing and management among people who inject drugs with hepatitis C
